Nothing exciting there, but my question is: Why does the National Weather Service still use all caps? Are they secretely still using telegraphs or some sort of wire? I mean they have rss. I don't understand and Bloglines makes it even harder to read. (not that I will ditch the feed, because I am a weather junkie)

I find that annoying as well. Next time I do have occasion to copy and paste and advisory, I'll run it through Word and change the case...
Maybe they think it makes the weather more important.
I paid for an upgrade to Weather.com just so I could see the live radar and map our house, so we can better make plans around German Shepherd scaring thunderstorms. My favorite things are volcanoes - unfortunately Las Vegas is not the place for volcano watching, unless you're at the Mirage...every thirty minutes after dark. ;)
I don't know does all caps make it seem more important or does it make it seem like a kid has been typing them in. Hmm volcanos. Can't say that I have ever looked at a weather report with a volcano.
It might also be their programme. Our current programme for issuing determinations is a DOS based dinosaur of which I can recall a version used by the insurer I worked for - around 1990. When I enter my determination, it changes the case to all caps.
I love weather too. I never noticed it was all caps till now either. Hmmm, maybe they want you to get the urgency of it all?
