Shoes for Blogher

I have been concerned for months about shoes. for. Blogher. Seriously, shoes jumped into mind as soon as Blogher did, after all, one of my first posts on this blog was about Blogher shoes. Now, I haven't been obsessing about it, it just has been on my mind. (I am not the only one! )

You see, I needed the right shoes; shoes that reflect me. (No, not shiny mary janes to go with a short skirt, geez). My really dead Florida style Birkenstocks (pictured above) wouldn't be right. My favorite boots died this year. I knew that I could end up putting on a pair of my standard shoes and be fine. Bloghers better not start with the pitchforks for bad or boring shoes. I will not stand for it. Still, Blogher calls for special Blogher shoes.

I have asked a variety of people about Blogher shoes.

I asked my children about Blogher shoes. They had great answers, entirely reflective of their fashion/shopping personalities:

1. Oldest daughter: "You could get a pair of chucks and decorate them yourself."

2. Youngest daughter "You really should go to New York City and go to Macy's shoe department. They really have great shoes."

3. Middle daughter "Sometimes Famous Footwear has a clearance sale and they put the shoes on a rack"

4. Son "How should I know? I get the same shoes every time. You should just do that."

None of these answers particularly seemed like the answer for ME. Blogher shoes must exude specialness and say something about me.

Now, chucks and decorating them had appeal; I really couldn't figure out what I would decorate them with and if I could, art is not my forte.

Going to New York to shoe shop had its appeal, but errr...what if I didn't find shoes? (not to mention the whole insanity of going to NY to shop...we live in Florida on a budget.)

Famous Footwear seems like a good idea on the face of it yet seemed to lack the magic of special shoes.

The same shoes, just new, seems like a good idea as well. I love my Birkenstocks. I would kill for a pair of replacement boots like my much loved boots that can never be worn again. But again, no magic.

Soooooo, I just sort of kept it out there. The right shoes would come to me. Life works that way. In any case, the right shoes came to me yesterday. I am very, very excited.

I must see the shoes!

I need a new pair soon. A pair I've had for a year have decided to start attacking my big toe. :(

I had no idea shoes were a big Blogher thing! Hmmmm, my summer shoes are usually the Birkenstock-like sandal. I must begin obsessing on this immediately! :)

No shoe pictures until blogher. Must. Keep. Them. A. Secret.

Though I am thinking about wearing them before Blogher.

Prince J is right, the same old shoes is fine. Better even than new weird shoes. And no, you are not wearing them before Blogher because their magic will wear off and I will have to hear you obsess about shoes again. The shoe thing is making me nuts. It's like E on steroids or something. Frightening.

But I do like your shoes.

hmph. The right shoes. The right boots. The right special date jacket. The right haircut. Those things don't need frequent purchase, but considered acquisition of these items brings immense payoff.

you can't taunt me and monkey with shoes we cannot see...the birk picture isn't gonna cut it...show us, we won't tell...you know you can trust us ;)

Hmmm I get you to a point although there are many rights of things. I refuse to believe there is only one right pair of shoes. lol Then that's what gets me into trouble because there are too many magical shoes...

OK this is weird. I have heard the monkey talk a little bit about shoes but she's starting to talk about them in the way that she talks about panties. Shoes do weird things to otherwise normal people - wait I don't know any normal people so maybe shoes do weird things to weird people and they have no effect on normal people LIKE ME?

Giggle! Did I not tell you about how the day I bought a pair boots and walked around in nothing but my boots and my underwear?

Shoes and underwear are a great combination. ;-)

I will be wearing (alternately) the Wasabi green Keds that are my current icon on BlogHer and the Keen Sandals that I normally live in.

Looking forward to seeing the Shoes of BlogHer...

Maybe there should be a "carnival of BlogHer Shoes"...
