Women as Kittens
Folio Magazine - Home: "Step Inside Design thought it was being cute when it used kittens on its December/January cover to portray the “Women of Design.”"
Ugh! Women as kittens. That is a seriously annoying to me stereotype. I don't even want to think about the fact that a design magazine was more probably invoking that synonym for kittens and women's genitalia. Somehow the fact that women designed this cover is supposed to make this an ok thing to do. Irony and all that. I will go for that once they do a men and design cover that doesn't show pictures of them or their work but instead some other creature. Snips and snails and puppy dog tails? Frogs? I don't know. In the meantime, I am annoyed.
Magazines should leave the cuties to CuteOverload and Scholastic book club posters.

I couldn't find a picture of the cover, have you seen it? Does this qualify as cat blogging friday? ;)
I only saw the thumbnail one on the article linked above.
