succedaneum: Starbucks Word of The Day
The Starbucks Akeelah and the Bee cup sleeve word of the day "succedaneum" means substitute. At first I thought no wonder this word faded from use. You see it here and there in those literary novels full of words no one actually uses; but no one uses it. HOWEVER, I think if a lot of people listen to the pronounciation guy on Answers.com say it...it could have a usage rennaissance...at the very least...it could serve as a succedaneum for that word that has its own monologue if it garnered a second meaning. Succccccc-suh-day---knee-ummmmmmmmm
